The Speaker announced the heads and members of eleven Assembly committees on 8 September 2026. Among them, M. Ravisankar was named chairperson of the Committee of Privileges, which examines questions touching the rights and immunities of the House and its members -- matters such as an alleged breach of privilege or contempt of the Assembly.

The appointment sits alongside his existing charge as Deputy Speaker, which he has held since 12 May 2026. Outside the Assembly, he also carries two responsibilities within the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam: Head of the party's Northern Region Disciplinary Action Committee, and District Party Secretary for the Suburban West district.

Between the Assembly and the party, his current responsibilities span presiding authority in the House, oversight of a committee safeguarding its privileges, and disciplinary and organisational charge within TVK.
